E-M:/ grass lake sewer contract referendum

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enviro-Mich message from cbreed@dmci.net (Breed, Christina L)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

A March 16 vote on a sewer contract for the Wolf Lakes and Big Olcott Lake
passed, with 48% casting a "no" vote. The $5.9 million contract is between
Grass Lake and Napoleon Township, with the Jackson County Drain
Commissioner acting as the County's bonding agent. The Grass Lake Awareness
Group (glag4@juno.com) petitioned for the referendum and launched a
four-month campaign to educate voters about the expansive nature of this
contract, which will open the door to development beyond the lakes area.
