Binational Conference -
"Lake Erie at the Millennium - Changes, Trends, and Trajectories,"
April 26-28, 1999,
University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, Canada,

This 3-day conference brings together leading researchers on Lake Erie to

-summarize changes that have occurred in the last 10 years,
-anticipate trends into the next 3-5 years, and
-address the most pressing questions facing Lake Erie decision makers.

Cutbacks to funding for research, government monitoring, and surveillance
through the 1990s have meant that our knowlege of changes in the Lake Erie
ecosystem has become fragmented. This conference will be a forum for
stock-taking, evaluating trends, and identifying critical gaps in the data
base needed to focus on the many problems facing the lake.

Fifty invited speakers will give presentations on issues and on component
making up the Lake Erie Ecosystem. Other poster presentations and displays
give information on emerging topics and concerns.

Contributors will be invited to submit peer-reviewed manuscripts for
inclusion in a Lake Erie compendium/source book and/or special journal issue
on the status of Lake Erie.

Registration costs ($120 for professionals; $50 for students and private
citizens by 15 March) include lunches and suppers, a copy of the book when
published, and other conference materials.

Registration forms, an overview of the Millennium Plan, and a detailed
program can be downloaded from the web site:
