A panel convened by Governor Engler to consider whether Michigan's environmental standards are adequate to protect the health of children meets Monday for the second time. This follows a legislative mandate authored by MEC requiring Michigan's DEQ to address the issue. The Children's Environmental Health Network, a national nonprofit organization whose purpose is to protect children's health as it relates to environmental hazards, has delivered a strong statement to the panel laying out the case for action by Michigan to address the protection of children from environmental risks. It is attached for those of you with capability to read attachments. If you do not have such capability, contact MEC for a paper copy.
