Every year, the Michigan Recycling Coalition recognizes organizations,
businesses, and individuals for innovative recycling, composting, and
waste reduction programs
throughout the state. By recognizing and publicizing innovative
programs, we hope to increase the effectiveness and profile of resource
recovery efforts in Michigan.
The only way we can accomplish this goal is through your assistance in
individuals, businesses and programs worthy of recognition.  This awards
program is open to both MRC members and non-members.

The 1999 Recycler of the Year Awards will be presented at the 17th
Conference and Business Recycling Expo at the Valley Plaza Resort in
Michigan on May 20, 1998. Award recipients will be notified in advance
so they may be present at the ceremony.

The award categories this year are:
OUTSTANDING RECYCLING PROGRAM: Public or private recycling program
resulting in significant or innovative diversion of materials from the
waste stream.
OUTSTANDING COMPOSTING PROGRAM: Effective composting program resulting
in significant impact on organics diversion and/or yard waste reduction.

OUTSTANDING REDUCTION & REUSE PROGRAM: Innovative program or significant
impact on preventing/eliminating waste. Unique and/or revolutionary
policy, product, or process development impacting resource recovery in
education/promotion program in a target area resulting in an increased
diversion of materials or awareness.

Nominations are due by April 23, 1999.  Nomination forms can obtained by
