E-M:/ Big Island Lake Wilderness camping sites

Enviro-Mich message from anne.woiwode@sfsierra.sierraclub.org

The Munising District of the Hiawatha National Forest is asking input on
designating 11 campsites and closing 6 worn out sites on lakes in the Big
Island Lake Wilderness, south of Munising. A scoping letter has been sent
out, with a request for comments by May 10. For a copy of the initial info
contact the Munising Ranger District, (906) 387-2512, or write to 400 E.
Munising Ave., Munising, MI 49862

This action is derived from the recent decision on a management plan for Big
Island Lake Wilderness, adopted March 15 by the Forest Supervisor. If you are
interested in BILW (a wonderful place to visit) you may wish to request a
copy of the Decision Notice for BILW, Forest Plan Amendment #18, from the
Hiawatha at the same address and phone number above.
