Enviro-Mich message from Poulsondav@aol.com

BAY CITY - City officials hope a $1 million project to build a sea wall along
the Saginaw River will stem the tide of landfill pollutants leaching
into the water.

MIDLAND - Dow Chemical Co. will "vigorously contest" a proposed $661,237
federal fine on allegations the company did not report three chemical
spills quickly enough.

MUSKEGON - The Department of Public Works was honored for eliminating large
tanks of potentially deadly chlorine gas, which was used to sanitize
drinking water drawn from Lake Michigan. The city replaced chlorine gas
with liquid sodium hypochlorite, which is less concentrated and poses
fewer health risks if accidentally released to the environment.

SAGINAW - The city's only medical waste incinerator fired up again this month
despite coming environmental regulations that might make it too
expensive to run by fall.

ANN ARBOR - Visitors from around the country will have the chance to board an
alternative fuel bus Tuesday, tour Ann Arbor's recycling center, visit
solar powered housing in Scio Township, and eat lunch from a
biodegradable brown bag as the Ann Arbor area shows off its efforts
toward sustainable living.
