A friendly reminder that the *registration deadline* for the Sept. 17-19th
ecumenical environmental conference by MECCE is this Friday, Aug. 20th
(though I can take registrations over the phone until probably Aug. 27th).

MECCE is the Michigan Ecumenical Consultation on Christianity and Ecology;
this will be our fifth statewide eco-conference exploring the connections
between religious faith and caring for the earth ....

It's called "Finding our Way, Finding our Voice" and features two guest
presenters : Dr. Larry Rasmussen (author, "Earth Community, Earth Ethics")
and Rev. Barbara Rossing (Asst. Prof of New Testament, Lutheran School of
Theology at Chicago - Rev. Rossing has a very illuminating and uplifting
message about "the eco-justice vision of the New Testament" ...particularly
from the book of Revelation ...and you thought it was all doom and gloom!)
:-)

The conference will also have workshops / forums, time for networking /
fellowship, previewing some choice eco-theological videos, browsing a
conference bookstore (with a large variety of titles), ecumenical worship,
and nightly campfires.

The cost to attend varies, depending on type of lodging chosen (lodge,
camping, or nearby motel) and whether the participant is a student, or child
aged 3 - 18. Cost ranges : $60 - $120, includes 5 meals.
Oops, almost forgot to mention the location! YMCA's Storer Camps south of
Lansing and near Jackson.

I expect it will be an empowering and Spirit-filled event. Please contact me
asap if you're interested and / or would like a registration brochure.
