Re: E-M:/ Henry Ford Incinerator Fails Stack Test

Enviro-Mich message from RobC313@aol.com

WOW! For the Henry Ford incinerator to fail the lame federal MACT standards
for medical waste incinerators is really, really bad. The standards are weak
and they had just rebuilt the incinerator to meet these standards. It adds a
lot of credibility to the argument that using incineration to dispose of
waste is a failed technology and must be abandoned for safer already
available alternatives. U of M shut their incinerator, Grand rapids shut down
the BFI incinerator, and now its time for Henry Ford to stop poisoning their
own neighborhood and shut their incinerator as well.

Credit is due the Sierra Club, Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice
the Ecology Center of Ann Arbor and the many community activist sincluding
County Commissioner Jewel Ware for keeping pressure on Henry Ford and Wayne
County. I believe that without such a level of public scrutiny these tests
would have been delayed for years.

 Keep Up the good work!
