Enviro-Mich message from "Karen D. Kendrick-Hands" <kdkhands@voyager.net>

SEMCOG just announced at a Transportation Visioning Summit this morning
that over the next 25 years there will be 26 BILLION dollars to spend on
transportation in the Region. Only $850 MILLION of that is tentatively
assigned to pulbic transit - only 3%. Let's combine our strength and GROW
that number!!!!!
Please join us for a joint MOSES [Metropolitan Organizing Strategy Enabling
Strength] and TRU [Transportation Riders United]. WAyne County
Commissioner George Cushingberry is our luncheon speaker and Staffers from
Senator Levin's, Congressman Conyer's, and Congresswoman Kilpatrick's
Offices will attend!

This will be a great opportunity to gain a better depth of understanding of
transportation in Southeast Michigan. In addition to Commissioner
Cushingberry the Director of SMART, the Manager of the Blue Water Area
Transportation Commission, MDOT, and Arlin Wasserman and Conan Smith from
the Michigan Land Use Institute are all confirmed on the program along with
Stephen Hands and Karen Kendrick-Hands from TRU and representatives from

In addition, this is a great opportunity to network and build coalitions
with other groups and interested citizens who will be coming. You can
register at the door, but let me knkow you're coming so there will be lunch
for you!

We are making a difference, MDOT and SEMCOG are feeling the presence of
citizens demanding better public transportation. Let's become even more

Thanks and sorry for cross postings! Karen
