EVENT: FIRST FRIDAY Speaker on the Environment

SPEAKER: Rick Sullivan, Executive Director 
  of the Center of Environmental Study

SPONSOR: West Michigan Environmental Action Council

DATE:  Friday, November 5, 1999

PLACE: St. Marks Church
  134 N. Division
  Grand Rapids, MI

TIME:   Noon to 1:30 pm

COST:  Lunch $7.00 for members and $8.00 for non-members  
  Free to those wishing to bring their own lunch

TOPIC:   "The Neighborhood Wetlands Monitors Program (NWMP)"  

NWMP is a community effort to systematically identify, map and monitor 
wetlands in Kent County.  It will also formulate and carry out educational 
efforts aimed at specific groups relevant to the conservation of these 
so-called neighborhood wetlands.  Other than basic administrative and 
communication functions, it will be a grassroots program, relying on 
volunteers and members of participating organization for its work.  NWMP has 
already begun a pilot project in Cannon Township.

WMEAC's "FIRST FRIDAY" is a monthly luncheon with speakers and presentations 
on environmental , outdoor and related topics.  It is open to the general 
public.
