Enviro-Mich message from "TONY DEFALCO" <DEFALCO@nwf.org>

PLEASE POST: Upcoming Meetings to highlight the Lake Superior Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP)

[Apologies for Cross Postings]

Did you know there is a plan for Lake Superior's future? The plan is called the Lake Superior Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP) and the state, federal and provincial governments are hoping to finish the third stage of the plan by April 2000. The LaMP is a road map to the goals of the Lake Superior Binational Program: Lake Superior as a zero discharge demonstration zone and the protection and restoration of the Lake Superior ecosystem. Read on to learn more and find out how you can make a difference in the LaMP.

**Meeting Overview and Schedule**
Now is the time for community members to make their voices heard. Help
ensure a strong, effective Stage 3 LaMP which accurately reflects the intention of the Binational Program. Join us at a public meeting in your community. In order to get the views of Lake Superior's many citizens, the Lake Superior Alliance and its member organizations have organized a series of public meetings. At each of the seven meetings, expert presenters will describe the Binational Program and highlight the Stage 3 Plan. What's in it? What's not there that should be? What kind of Lake Superior is in your future? Meetings will also feature presentations on what Lake Superior citizens are doing to meet the goals now.
