E-M:/ Rally outside Henry Ford Hospital, Thursday

------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enviro-Mich message from Mary Beth Doyle -------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT: A rally outside Henry Ford Hospital to ask Henry Ford to QUIT THE SMOKING HABIT and SHUT DOWN THEIR INCINERATOR!!

WHEN: This Thursday, November 18th, 4 - 6 pm

WHERE: In front of Henry Ford Hospital, 2799 W. Grand Blvd

WHY: Because Henry Ford should not be burning it's medical waste, especially in a community that already has a high rate of asthma. There are less toxic ways to dispose of medical waste. On November 18, people all across the country will give up smoking, at least for the day. Can't Henry Ford do the same?

A question of justice?
Henry Ford Hospital's facilities in suburban Detroit do not burn their medical waste, yet Henry Ford continues burn its waste in the city, in a predominantly African American neighborhood. This disproportionately exposes the community members to increased health risks.

Second hand smoke is bad for your health, whether it is from a cigarette or from an incinerator. Henry Ford needs to hear from us that IT'S TIME TO STOP SMOKING!
