If You Love the Great Outdoors . . .
A NatureLink Family Summit Offers Something for You and Your Entire Family!

Lake Superior Family Summit: Keep the Wild Alive: Water for Life
Marquette, Michigan July 29 - August 4, 2000

Join us in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (UP) on the southern shores of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world! The Upper Peninsula is a land of dense timber, trackless marshes, swift rivers, crashing waterfalls, stony hills, and glittering lakes. Lake Superior is 1,100 miles of scenic shoreline and offers opportunities for kayaking, swimming, hiking and observing wildlife. Northern Michigan University (NMU) is the host site for the Lake Superior Family Summit.

The National Wildlife Federation ® invites you to improve an outdoor skill, observe birds and wildflowers to add to your "life list," explore the summertime constellations, or discover wildlife for the first time. Dedicated naturalists and environmental experts bring the sights and sounds to life and help your family build a lasting base of outdoor knowledge and expertise.

The NatureLink® Family Summit is a weeklong program with age-appropriate outdoor activities that accommodate the varied interests, attention spans, and ability levels of your whole group! Since 1970 more than 30,000 youths, teens and adults have experienced the unique educational vacation Summits offer.

How does it work?
During the day, parents and grandparents explore the natural history of an area and learn first-hand about wildlife and the environment through a myriad of thought-provoking classes, workshops, field trips, and hikes. At the same time, kids and grandkids attend day programs that explore topics with hands-on activities similar to the adults, with an added emphasis on the interests of their specific age group. Preschoolers to teens find their comfort zone enjoying water sports, hiking, and taking field trips with peers their own age. In the afternoons and evenings group activities are available for families to enjoy together. Summit program registration fees include all daily activities and field trip transportation. Meals and lodging are not included.

For Lake Superior Family Summit fees and NMU meals and lodging fees please review the information on our website at www.nwf.org/naturelink/summit.
