SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
The Department of Health Behavior and Health Education at the School of
Public Health at the University of Michigan is seeking candidates for a
tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The focus of this position is on the social and behavioral aspects of
environmental health. Examples of research interests include:
large-scale environmental health education efforts involving schools,
communities, and health care organizations; impact of adverse physical and
psychosocial environments on human health, including children; policy and
advocacy-based research and/or interventions aimed at creating healthier
living environments; and environmental justice. There are numerous
sources of potential collaboration, including the School's Department of
Environmental Health Sciences and the Michigan Center for the Environment
and Children's Health as well as the School of Natural Resources and
Environment and the School of Public Policy. Review of applications will
begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The
University of Michigan is a Non-Discriminatory Affirmative Action

Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and evaluate interventions and/or research on the
social and behavioral aspects of environmental health
Teach graduate-level courses in the department
Advise master's and doctoral students
Develop and maintain programs of externally-funded research
Contribute to the service mission of the department, School, University,
and profession
Build collaborative ties within the university and with community
partners
Qualifications:
Earned doctorate with appropriate background, training, and research
experience
Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and external funding,
commensurate with rank
Strong record of teaching excellence, commensurate with rank
Salary:
Negotiable, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Start Date:
September 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter.
