E-M:/ Thornapple River cleanup May 20, 2000

Enviro-Mich message from "thornapple river" <thornapple@hotmail.com>

Here are two opportunities to enjoy the scenic and beautiful Thornapple
River in West Michigan and also do something nice for the river. The Barry
County Water Quality Action Committee and the Thornapple River Watershed
Group invite you to join them for their river cleanups in the beautiful
month of May.

The annual Thornapple River Watershed Group Clean-Up Canoe Trip is planned
for Saturday, May 20, 2000, in Barry County. The TRWG canoe trip starts at
8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Lunch for the cleanup volunteers has in the
past been donated by local sources.

Please let TRWG know if you are interested in joining them on the canoe trip
this year by emailing your contact information to thornapple@hotmail.com ,
or calling Patricia at 616-891-8817. Curious about how much fun they have?
The 1999 canoe trip has become a Virtual Internet Event at
http://www.thornappleriver.com or
http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Vines/6046/canoe99.html .

In addition, the Barry County Water Quality Action Committee is planning a
Thornapple River Spring Festival and a river cleanup in Hastings, based at
Tyden Park. They welcome participants who can bring interesting exhibits and
activities to the park for the day, all about the beautiful Thornapple River
and its tributaries, fishing, recreation, and water quality. The date for
this event is Saturday, May 20, 2000 starting at 7 a.m..

People and groups who would like to help plan or join in the river cleanup
and festival at Tyden Park should call Steve Merring at 616-945-9706
( smerring@tir.com ). The Clean-Up planning committee will meet Tuesday,
March 28, 2000, from 6 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. in the conference room of the
Courts and Law Building in Hastings. This is a great opportunity for
businesses, local government, service groups and clubs to share their
expertise and energy with the community. Any and all are welcome to join in!

People who would like to bring water quality exhibits or exhibits about
their river or stream project to Tyden Park should contact Patricia at

Mark your calendars for May 20 on and in the Thornapple River!
