The Michigan Environmental Council (MEC) - a twenty-year-old nonprofit coalition of over 50 environmental, public health and faith-based organizations - is seeking to fill a full-time Policy Specialist position in its Land Stewardship Initiative (LSI) program in Lansing. A dynamic and growing organization with a staff of 10, MEC is recognized as a leading voice for Michigan's environment.
This grant-funded position offers a talented and committed activist the opportunity to directly engage Michiganís elected officials and citizens in reforming the stateís land use policies. One-third of this position is funded in cooperation with the Michigan Land Use Institute (MLUI) and dedicated to a joint transportation strategy. The successful candidate will have the skills and energy to navigate the waters of the State Capitol and aid citizens in organizing efforts around urban development, alternative transportation and open space protection issues.
Salary: $23,000 - $30,000 based on experience and qualifications; excellent health benefits and a progressive retirement program.
