E-M:/ PC's and the environment

Enviro-Mich message from Terry Link <link@MAIL.LIB.MSU.EDU>

In trying to find answers to the nagging question of when to turn off one's
PC monitor and computer we have been led to a number of reports. The best
recommendations which verify information from Hewlett Packard work practices
as well as research done at the Lawrence Berkeley labs are reflected in this
brief policy brief from the Rocky Mountain Institute.

The quick points are turn off the monitor if away from the machine for more
than 15 minutes. Turn off the PC itself if not in use for more than 2 hours.

Since everyone that reads this uses a PC, this seems to be a good way to get
the word out. Feel free to pass it along.
