TITLE:Grant Awarded to Michigan for Real Time Ozone Mapping

      ACTION SUMMARY: On April 18, 2000, the Air and Radiation Division 
approved a cooperative agreement
      amendment in the amount of $127,160 to the Michigan Department of 
Environmental Quality for continuation of the
      Real Time Air Quality Data Collection And Mapping Project. This is 
the third year of funding for this project, which is
      part of the Environmental Monitoring for Public Access and Community 
Tracking (EMPACT) program. The
      objectives of this program are to provide time relevant air quality 
data in an easily accessible and understandable
      format to the general public. This information will allow the public 
to make important health decisions which may lead
      to fewer exceedances of the air quality standards. The products of 
this program will be a next day ozone forecast
      map, a previous day ozone map, and a same day ozone movie utilizing 
seven polling times. Michigan will be
      responsible for polling its monitors seven times per day and 
delivering the data to the USEPA Data Collection
      Center.
