Anne,

I know where the manure from my cows goes.  It is spread on our cropland to
be used as fertilizer.  We adhere to guidelines
given to us by the The Natural Resources Conservation Service.  These
nutrients are applied in the responsibly and in the amount that the crops
can utilize and not to excess.  They provide almost all of the nutrients
except for some supplemental nitrogen that is needed for corn.  Manure is a
valuable resource that when applied responsibly reduces the need for
commercial fertilizer.

I think I will go have another glass of cold milk.
