About the organization
The Clinton River flows through fifty rural, urbanizing, and urban communities in southeast Michigan before discharging into Lake St. Clair. The Clinton River Watershed Council takes direct action, fosters cooperation, encourages local initiatives and coordinates efforts of individuals, governments, businesses and associations to protect, improve and celebrate the Clinton River, its watershed and Lake St. Clair.  As an IRS 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, our river advocacy includes technical assistance through policy development, watershed planning, and community education and outreach.
Reporting relationship
The Community Education Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and works cooperatively with three other professional and administrative staff.
Support the organization's mission through sound coordination of the organization's community education and action programs and services, production of high quality work in a timely fashion, and courteous, service-oriented behavior towards clients and coworkers. The Community Education Coordinator will:
1 Coordinate and expand the volunteer monitoring program, which includes both schools and community volunteer groups;
2 Foster collaborative efforts in developing new education programs, such as a healthy lawns and gardens program
3 Develop and implement, along with coworkers, a variety of community awareness, education and action programs, including an annual River Day, hands-on workshops, public speaking engagements, etc.;
4 Collaborate with the Community Outreach Coordinator in the development of brochures, flyers, slide shows, scripts, videos and other  educational materials;
5 Coordinate the Clinton River/Lake St. Clair Environmental Education Network;
6 Represent CRWC on various committees, boards and task forces; and
7 Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, in environmental education, plus work experience.  Strong analytical and verbal and written communication skills. Good relationship skills, including tact, sense of humor, and assertiveness.  Demonstrated ability to track and manage several activities well and in a timely fashion.  Working familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.  (The office software standard is Microsoft Office products operated on a local area network.) 
Full time exempt position
$24,000 - 34,000 salary commensurate with experience, medical insurance, deferred compensation, and vacation, sick and holiday pay.
