Making Lake Michigan Great 2000

You are invited on a Cruise on Saturday September 23, 2000

The W.G. Jackson research and education vessel from the Grand Valley
State University Annis Water Resources Institute is making its way
around Lake Michigan on the Making Lake Michigan Great 2000 Tour.  The
purpose of the tour is to spread the word about the Lakewide Management
Plan for Lake Michigan and to visit areas of concern around the lake
such as the Kalamazoo River.  This is a project of the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency Lake Michigan Forum.

Cruises for the public and students provide hands-on experience in water
quality sampling aboard the W.G. Jackson.  Information about water
quality concerns in the Kalamazoo River and the coastal zone of Lake
Michigan will be highlighted on the trip.

Date: Saturday, September 23, 2000

Location:  Dock at Coral Gables Restaurant, 220 Water Street, Saugatuck,

Cruise Times:
1)   9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m.
2) 12:00  2:00 p.m.
3) 3:00  5:00 p.m.

Pre-registration: You can pre-register for a cruise by calling the
Kalamazoo River Watershed Council at 616-373-1157 by September 20,
2000.   Cruises are limited to 25 per time slot.

Please note that children must be at least eight years old to be on a
cruise.  Participants should dress in layers since it may be chilly on
Lake Michigan.  In the case of severe weather, please call (616)
895-3048 to confirm that the vessel will be going.  If you need to
cancel at the last minute, call the vessel at (616) 550-4516 and the
Kalamazoo River Watershed Council at 616-373-1157.
