Commission announces "Great Lakes Daily News" service via e-mail

Free subscription through GLIN at www.glin.net/forms/dailynews_form.html

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Great Lakes Commission is pleased to offer a new
service through the Great Lakes Information Network (GLIN). The "Great
Lakes Daily News" e-mail list provides a free daily news feed of recent
coverage of Great Lakes-St. Lawrence issues by print, radio and television
media outlets in the United States and Canada. This section of GLIN, which
provides an "electronic clipping service" for more than 50 major regional
newspapers and news services, is updated Monday-Friday by noon. For the
latest headlines, visit www.glin.net/news/

"Great Lakes Daily News provides a valuable service to the Great Lakes-St.
Lawrence community and beyond," says Commission Chair Nat Robinson. "It is
a real asset for those of us who work on Great Lakes-St. Lawrence issues,
as well as members of the general public who hold an interest in the
region."

Subscribers to the Great Lakes Daily News listserv will only receive one
message per day; this is not a discussion list. Those interested in
subscribing can visit www.glin.net/forms/dailynews_form.html or send an
e-mail message to majordomo@great-lakes.net with the command "subscribe
dailynews" (minus the quotes) in the body of the message.

Future expansions to the Great Lakes Daily News section on GLIN will
include a Press Room featuring press releases supplied by partner agencies
and organizations, and a searchable archive of online news articles. Also
being considered is a service that will allow partner agencies and
organizations to feature a "Great Lakes Daily News Box" on their own web
sites. Maintained daily by Commission staff, this box will provide a
"window" to the latest regional news and the related suite of GLIN News
services.

Online since 1993, GLIN has been recognized as the primary gateway on the
Web to Great Lakes-related news, issues, organizations and activities. Its
usage has grown remarkably and now averages 2 million hits per month. In
addition to environmental data, GLIN provides information about the
regional economy, a thriving tourism industry, state and provincial
demographics, and educational resources.
