The Great Lakes Commission has an immediate opening for a self-starting,
highly motivated team player to work on Great Lakes water quality policy
and resource management projects. The individual will provide staff
support on issues such as watershed management, environmental
monitoring, wetlands and other related projects.

The ideal candidate must possess strong verbal, research, writing and
computer skills. Knowledge of the Great Lakes, regional government,
water quality, land use and related resource management issues a must.
Experience supporting committees, organizing meetings and conferences,
and maintaining web sites desirable.  Relevant graduate or undergraduate
degree and two years of related work experience required.

The position is a full time, renewable 12 month appointment. The Great
Lakes Commission offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits
package that includes (among others) medical, dental and optical
insurance. The Commission also has an outstanding pension program
through TIAA-CREF.  This position is based at Great Lakes Commission
offices in Ann Arbor, Michigan, located near the University of Michigan

The Great Lakes Commission, chaired by Nathaniel E. Robinson
(Wisconsin), is a nonpartisan, binational compact agency created by
state and U.S. federal law and dedicated to promoting a strong economy,
healthy environment and high quality of life for the Great Lakes-St.
Lawrence region and its residents. The Commission consists of state
legislators, agency officials and governors' appointees from its eight
member states. Associate membership for Ontario and Quebec was
established through the signing of a "Declaration of Partnership." The
Commission maintains a formal Observer program involving U.S. and
Canadian federal agencies, tribal authorities, binational agencies and
other regional interests. The Commission offices are located in Ann
Arbor, Michigan.
