The Center for Environmental Citizenship (home of Campus Green Vote) seeks a
motivated organizer with training skills and environmental experience to
work with college students in the Northwest.

The Center for Environmental Citizenship is a national, non-partisan
501(c)(3) organization.  CEC runs three programs focused on training,
education and communication: Campus Green Vote, EarthNet and the National
Environmental Wire for Students (NEWS).

Responsibilities of CEC’s NW Organizer:

-       Train young people to run Campus Green Vote’s “Vote Environment”
Campaigns (recruitment, voter registration drives, education,
Get-Out-The-Vote, media, accountability).
-       Recruit young leaders in the Northwest and Pacific Region to apply
to CEC’s Environmental Justice Summer Training Academy (June ‘01).
-       Act as regional representative of the Center for Environmental
Citizenship, fulfilling speaking engagements and acting as spokesperson in
local media.
-       Hire and manage interns and volunteers in both election and
non-election seasons.
-       Pursue grassroots and foundation fundraising opportunities.
-       Assist in developing the NW section of www.envirocitizen.org
-       Conduct political skills trainings in Washington, Oregon, Idaho,
Montana and California.

Qualifications sought for the position:

-       Environmental commitment and knowledge of major environmental issues
in the NW;
-       Electoral and/or campaign experience;
-       Leadership and training experience, especially with young people;
-       Media and computer skills;
-       Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
-       Knowledge of local politics, campuses and non-profit organizations

Mid-Twenties, DOE, including health care benefits.  Based in Seattle.
Position begins immediately.
