Study of Passenger Rail between Detroit & Metro Airport
-Meetings Thursday-

Hi Folks:

The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments will hold public meetings Thursday in Detroit & Dearborn to provide an update on its study of commuter rail service between downtown Detroit and Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

The study, coordinated by SEMCOG, is examining the rail line's potential ridership and cost, and its detailed route, including where specifically it would go downtown and at the airport.

Other study questions include how often the train would run, the cost of passenger fares, the possible use of existing rail lines, and the prospect of constructing a new rail line along the I-94 right-of-way for part of the route.

U.S. Senator Carl Levin obtained the funding for the approximately year-long study.

The SEMCOG press release follows.
