PROGRAM OFFICER -HEALTH PROMOTION, ART AND BEAUTIFICATION

The Ruth Mott Foundation is seeking a Program Officer who will work directly
for the Director.
About the Ruth Mott Foundation
The Ruth Mott Foundation is a new private foundation with an endowment of
approximately $200 million, which provides grant support for programs in the
Greater Flint area and beyond.  The Foundation supports programs related to
interests of Ruth Mott- Health Promotion (especially for young children),
Art and Beautification - and other issues of interest to the Foundation's
Board of Trustees.
About the immediate opening for a Program Officer -Health Promotion, Art and
Beautification
The primary work will be to assist the Ruth Mott Foundation Director develop
grantmaking programs.  The Program Officer will represent the Foundation's
interests with the public and applicant organizations in the non-profit
sector.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
* Respond to inquiries, where appropriate meet with potential grantees and
if needed, provide technical assistance
* Investigate grant proposals, write recommendations to the Director and
make presentations to the Board
* Assist in monitoring and evaluating the progress and effectiveness of
grants
* Read widely and conduct studies of program areas of possible interest to
the
Board as assigned
* Take part in community meetings and other events which further program
goals

Qualifications:
The position requires strong organizational, analytical, writing and
communication skills.  In addition, sensitivity to a variety of community
and cultural differences and the ability, desire and willingness to work
with all kinds of nonprofit groups are essential.  Prior experience in
non-profit work is desirable.  Knowledge of any of the Foundation's three
primary fields of interest, while not essential, is desirable.  At a
minimum, a baccalaureate degree is required.  Knowledge of Microsoft Word
and electronic communication systems is desirable.
