E-M:/ Wintering Piping Plover comments reopened

Enviro-Mich message from "Liz Godfrey" <lizgodfrey@prodigy.net>

Hello Michigan!

Here's an FYI that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has reopened the
public comment period on the critical habitat designation for the Great
Lakes piping plover. The reopening is specific to the plover's wintering
habitat which is not in Michigan, mainly along the southern Atlantic coast
and the Gulf of Mexico, this habitat is critical in seeing the plovers
return to abundance and recovery in Michigan. Michigan has been a good home
for the Great Lakes piping plover and is one of the last places they are
hanging on. Please add your comments for the plover, even if it is just to
say that "critical habitat designation for the Great Lakes piping plover is
great! They need all the help they can get."

To get more information on the critical habitat and where it is actually
located, check out plover.fws.gov. If you would like a sample comment
letter or more information, feel free to contact me. Thanks!
