Saturday's Free Press carries a story about DEQ's approval of the Romulus
waste well permits.


This excerpt from the story is illuminating and apt:

If the reporter had merely called the citizens group, or checked the MEC
website, he could have discovered the amount that EDS President Douglas
Wicklund has conveniently "forgotten."  It's $1,100 in 1999. And other
proponents of the well who stand to benefit financially gave over $10,000.

While lawmakers scurry to launch investigations about quid pro quos in D.C.,
none seem interested in investigating one here.
