E-M:/ Rally March 1st! NO TOXIC WELL!

Enviro-Mich message from Mary Beth Doyle <marybeth@ecocenter.org>

The City of Detroit's Policemen and Firemen Retirement System is the major
investor in the recently permitted hazardous waste disposal well in
Romulus. Over $10 million of retirement funds have been invested in this
project. Ironically enough, one of the reasons the Site Review Board
recommended denial of the project was because of "the risk of fires or
explosions from improper treatment, storage or disposal methods."

So RECAP is organizing a rally at 9am Thursday, March 1st, at the Coleman
A. Young Municipal Building at the corner of Woodward and Jefferson in
downtown Detroit. (formerly the City-County Building).
The City of Detroit's Policemen and Firemen Retirement System Board will be
meeting in the building at that time. This is a chance to let them know
that this is a BAD INVESTMENT, any way you look at it. Please join us.

Can't make the rally? How about sending a letter requesting that they stop
investing in this project? City of Detroit Police and Firefighters, active
or retired, are especially encouraged to send letters. Letters can be sent
