E-M:/ Farmland Preservation Discussion takes center stage in Macomb

Enviro-Mich message from "Shelly Bania" <sbania2@hotmail.com>

The recent decision by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners to form a
task force to study the loss of Macomb's open spaces and farmlands AND ways
to preserve them appears to be giving the issue a much deserved spotlight
in the headlines.

Please see the links for today's (3-1) front page Detroit News article
regarding the loss of farmland in Macomb County and solutions to that
problem. Included in the article is an on-line survey asking whether county
tax dollars should be used to save farms.

Thus far, 62% responding said YES!

The second link is the survey and includes a comment section.

This type of discussion is paramount in determining citizen support for
initiatives that would solve the problems relative to loss of open space
and farmlands in Macomb County. Please join the discussion.
