NOTICE OF COMMUNITY MEETING TO ADDRESS MINERGY CLEAR HORIZONS PROJECT, IN
SOUTHWEST DETROIT

What do we know about the glass aggregate/sewage sludge incinerator that is
proposed for the Delray/southwest Detroit community? What are the
anticipated environmental impacts? How does the facility compare to the
current sludge incinerators? What is the City's plan for the current
incinerators if Minergy receives a permit? What is the community's role in
the permitting process?

A public meeting to address these questions will be held from 5:30-7:30
p.m. March 7 at the Rademacher Center, 6501 South Street, Detroit,
Mich. Parking is available in a surface lot and on the street. During the
meeting, scientists will discuss the proposed facility, with a focus on the
permit application that Minergy submitted to the Michigan Department of
Environmental Quality. The scientists are from the Technical Outreach
Services for Communities (TOSC) Program at Michigan State University. The
meeting will provide citizens with a unique opportunity to ask questions of
university faculty with expertise in air quality and pollution control.

Issues to be discussed in the meeting include:
·	Anticipated emissions from the Minergy facility.
·	Minergy's impact on Delray air quality.
·	Pollution control devices used by Minergy.
·	Composition of sludge and how it affects air emissions.

The March 7 meeting is sponsored jointly by the Delray United Action
Council and the TOSC Program. Funded under U.S. EPA grants, TOSC promotes
citizen participation in environmental decision-making through technical
assistance and education.
