Michigan man dies in accident with Canadian garbage truck

Canadian Press

Marlette, Mich. - A Canadian garbage truck was involved in an accident
that left a Marlette, Mich., man dead, a Michigan radio station
said....Roland Oliver Jr., 55, was riding with his daughter, Brenda Marie
Dulude, when the semi tractor-trailer hit the back of their car as they
turned left.

Mr. Oliver was pronounced dead at the scene, Sanilac County Sheriff's Sgt.
James Wagester said. Ms. Dulude was taken to Marlette Hospital with head

Byron Russell Long, 44, of Rodney, Ont., who was driving the truck along
M-53, suffered minor injuries.

Many trucks carrying Canadian garbage to be dumped in Michigan reportedly
travel that route. The City of Toronto signed a contract to send its
garbage to a Michigan landfill last October after a controversial plan to
send it to the Adams Mine site near Kirkland Lake, Ont. died. The
shipments are also controversial in Michigan.

Sgt. Wagester said police are investigating the accident, but no charges
have been filed.
