E-M:/ Decision at the Top of the World

Enviro-Mich message from David Wright <wrightd@voyager.net>

The Crossroads Group of the Sierra Club is pleased to present a special

	by noted mountaineer Lou Kasischke

In May 1996 a storm enveloped Mt. Everest trapping more than a dozen
climbers near the top. By the time the storm abated, eight climbers were
dead and several more were permanently injured in the worst climbing
accident in Mt. Everest's history.

Noted mountaineer Lou Kasischke, a survivor of the 1996 climbing tragedy on
Mt. Everest, will share his experience on Mt. Everest and discuss the
decisions and events that contributed to the disaster and his ability to
survive. His story is both sad and triumphant. The events of that climb
have been the subject of two books, a best seller, "Into Thin Air" by Jon
Krakauer and "The Climb" by Anatoli Boukreev.
