The Muskegon River Watershed Assembly (MRWA) is a 501(c)(3) organization 
whose mission is to "preserve, protect and enhance the natural, historic 
and cultural resources of the Muskegon River Watershed while supporting 
positive economic development, agricultural and quality of life initiatives 
of organizations working in the watershed." We are seeking candidates to 
fill the new position of Executive Director.

The selected person will serve as the chief executive officer and chief 
administrative officer providing Assembly program management, participating 
in the hiring of staff, staff supervision, executing and managing 
contracts, managing MRWA day-to-day operations, and preparing and managing 
the annual budget. The Executive Director is employed by and receives 
direction from the MRWA Board of Directors.

Qualifications include:
Minimum of B.S. in environmental science, business, or related field, or 
equivalent work experience;
Experience in program development;
Ability to be self-motivated and maintain a motivated and productive staff;
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to build and maintain 
relationships with other organizations, local officials and government 
Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit fundraising;
Experience administering or performing contract work;
Broad knowledge of grant writing, application process, and administration;
Strong interest in watershed issues consistent with the mission of the 
Ability to manage a multi-county nonprofit; and
Ability to travel as required.

Job responsibilities include:
Overall responsibility for financial and business office management in a 
professional manner and in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and 
Promotion of sound scientific watershed management through collaborations 
and partnerships with government, business, community organizations and 
Management and promotion ofo MRWA as a watershed management service 
provider and advocate;
Management of MRWA oversight to ensure coordination of watershed 
Implementation and maintenance of a strategic plan in cooperation with and 
approved by the Board of Directors;
Development and implementation of an annual budget and work plan;
Implementation of MRWA programs and projects in cooperation with and 
approved by the Board of Directors;
Development and administration of a fundraising strategy which addresses 
MRWA operations, membership development and retention, donations and 
specials gifts, the endowment, and grants;
Development and administration of an education, marketing, and 
communications strategy;
Efficient operation of the workplace in a teamwork style;
Facilitation of staff support to the Board of Directors;
Recruitment, supervision and development of staff;
Compliance with the MRWA bylaws
Keeping the Assembly apprised of all issues that are related to its purpose 
and reporting to the Baord of Directors;
Attracting and developing local leadership to the Assembly and its 
Representing the MRWA in a professional manner; and
Other duties as assigned.
