E-M:/ Oil Indusrty Profits Soaring Through the Roof

Enviro-Mich message from "Daniel Farough" <daniel.farough@sierraclub.org>

A very interesting story for Michigan motorists who are concerned about the
rising cost of a gallon of gas posted on the mlive webpage. Exxon Mobil
reports its profits are up 44% for the first quarter of the year. Yet they
also admit that natural gas production is down only 1% and crude oil
production inched up 1%. Can anyone say price gouging?

Meanwhile the Bush administration continues to suggest the only way to deal
with energy issues is to drill the Artic National Wildlife Refuge and
perhaps throw in the Great Lakes to boot for a 200 day supply that will 10
years to deliver.

Heaven forbid an investigation of benevolent oil producers or pursuing
alternative energy sources or even making cars go a couple miles further on
a gallon of gas. That might reduce Mobil or Haliburton's profits. Thats
what we get for electing the oil industry for President.
