E-M:/ Perrier's relentless quest to tap the Great Lakes

Enviro-Mich message from "Andrew Guy" <andy@mlui.org>

Just 3 years ago, a Canadian Company received permission to haul off 156
million gallons of Lake Superior water every year and sell it to Asia. The
proposal met abruptly with fierce public and political outrage and was
ultimately rejected.

Today, the Perrier Group of America proposes to privatize annually 262
million gallons - 106 million gallons more - of Great Lakes water, taking it
directly from the Muskegon River watershed.

Read about the company's quest to tap the Great Lakes in an article by Erik
Ness of Grist Magazine:

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will accept until June 15
written public comment on the company's plan to withdraw, bottle, and sell
Great Lakes water.
