PEOPLE OF VARIOUS FAITH TRADITIONS GATHER TO WITNESS TO EFFORTS IN THE 
RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY TO FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING

Wyandotte, MI - In perhaps the first such gathering of its kind, an estimated 
one hundred members and religious leaders of various faith traditions will 
come together outside of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Wyandotte to 
witness the blessing of solar panels and a wind turbine on the roof of the 
parish rectory.

Unique and exciting visuals : Parish priest, Rev. Charles Morris will be 
climbing a ladder to the 3-story high roof to bless the just installed 
renewable energy devices with holy water, as the crowd below joins in special 
prayers created for the occasion.

WHEN :      Sunday, June 10, 2001  at noon

WHAT :      Blessing of solar panels and windmill; press conference with 
speakers highlighting religious community concerns about national energy 
policy and global warming; release of a statement by over 30 senior and other 
religious leaders in Michigan; response by member(s) of the U.S. Congress.   
[ All the members of the Michigan Congressional Delegation were invited; Rep. 
David Bonior is confirmed as coming; it's possible some others may show up, 
too. ]

WHERE :   St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 138 Goodell, Wyandotte. 
The church is approx.  1 1/3 miles south of where Southfield Rd. ends at 
Jefferson in SE Detroit (Jefferson becomes Biddle Rd. in Wyandotte).  Goodell 
is one block south of the Biddle Rd. and Goddard Rd. intersection.  Turn 
right for two blocks.  St. Elizabeth's is on the corner of Goodell and Second 
St.
