I would also suggest that someone go after the Ethyl (sp?) folks that kept
lead in our gasoline long after we were aware of its dangers. In the 1920's
it was the auto industry that insisted that they had to have it just as today
they insist that any effort to clean up the auto emissions would destroy the
economy of the free world as they continue to manufacture battleship size
SUVs. But getting back to lead if you look at the history of the lead
manufactures and their denial of the problem in both lead paint and leaded
gas we should not only take legal action against the corporations but
criminal action against some of the corporate leaders. (although most are
long dead.)
This lead issue has all the elements of corporate pollution. First they deny
the danger while reaping huge profits at the cost of human health, then years
later when the damage is clearly documented they claim that despite their own
documentation to the contrary, they were never aware of the threat, then they
claim that they cant afford to clean up their own mess. YES, the lead issue
both in paint and gasoline is an environmental issue and deserves the
attention of this list.
