Enough already! Look, I thought I was too stupid to understand what Mr. Simmons was getting at, so I kept asking questions. I didn't mean to be exclusionary or mean or claim that you all have unfounded beliefs.

To all EM'ers, if you are responding to an EM posting, please do not "reply" to the sender directly. Many responses have been sent directly to me and some have been very angry and upsetting. If it is for everyone's benefit, send it to enviro-mich. And if it isn't fit to post on enviro-mich, perhaps you shouldn't send it at all.

Ms. Chris Greene

Mr. Greene, are you playing devil's advocate here?

Wasn't lead banned from shotgun shells not long ago due to the negative impact on the environment? And wasn't lead blood level screening for children a component of the Clean Michigan Initiative voted on a couple of years ago?

The points others have made about urban environments still being environments illustrates how widespread environmental injustice is. People and many other species live in urban areas, right? Paved areas are still environment. Pollutants washed into storm sewers will migrate into waterways. Air emissions go virtually everywhere. If
developed areas are abandoned and neglected, isn't it likely that reclamation of these areas will involve removal/disposal of on-site pollutants such as lead? Isn't reclamation of brownfields desireable as a means of stemming sprawl?

Dude, you gotta be yanking our collective chains. Peace and be well.

I agree that lead paint, closed air systems, old water pipes and domestic animal abuse are very real problems and should be addressed. But to my understanding, that is not the purpose of this list.
