Today's Detroit News has an article about another contaminated school site
in SW Detroit, this time at Priest Elementary.  The soil was tested prior
to the construction of a new elementary school right next to the current
Priest Elementary, which will become a middle school once the new school is

Soil testing found lead at 30X the acceptable limits. Kenneth Burnley, CEO
of Detroit Public Schools, says he is committed to "safe, healthy schools"
but he is also keeping the summer school open while he awaits the results
of soil testing directly around the current school.

Burnley apparently feels no need to take immediate action. "If students are
being exposed to lead, they've been exposed for the past seventy years, he
