Wanted: “Shoreline Sweepers”

Become a “Shoreline Sweeper” by participating in the world’s largest annual
volunteer cleanup effort on September 15, as hundreds of volunteers head out
to shoreline areas in Michigan to be part of the International Coastal
Cleanup. During the 2000 Cleanup, over 1,500 volunteers participated by
picking up over 7,100 pounds of trash from 128 miles of shoreline.

As volunteers collect trash, they record their findings. The information is
analyzed to identify pollution sources so solutions to shoreline debris can
be developed. Volunteer for Coastal Cleanup 2001 and experience the rewards
of environmental action! Contact Jamie Morton at the Lake Michigan
Federation at jmorton@lakemichigan.org or toll free: 888-886-8958.
