  .... according to an MSU entomologist:

CHICAGO, Illinois, August 30, 2001 (ENS) - Crops which
have been genetically modified to resist pests are
only useful until the bugs outsmart them, developing
their own protections against the toxins produced by
the plants. A Michigan entomologist argues that some
crop-eating insects must be protected in order to keep
them all from becoming resistant to engineered crops.
