The Lake Huron Workshop will be held on January 24, 2002, in Port Huron, =
Michigan, at the Thomas Edison Inn. The workshop will be convened by the =
Michigan Office of the Great Lakes and the U.S. Environmental Protection =
Agency Great Lakes National Program Office.=20

The Lake Huron Initiative has identified critical issues and actions for =
the protection and restoration of Lake Huron. The purpose of the workshop =
is to identify indicators, monitoring efforts and additional actions =
necessary to continue progress toward our goal of "restoring and maintainin=
g the chemical, physical, and biological integrity of the waters, =
tributaries, and nearshore terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems of Lake =
Huron" and to set priorities for future actions.=20

The workshop will include presentations from the US EPA and Office of the =
Great Lakes regarding Lake Huron. The workshop will focus on the developmen=
t of Lake Huron Indicators for critical pollutants, physical habitat, and =
fisheries. Also, sessions will identify priority actions for the protection=
  and restoration of important ecological areas and Areas of Concern.=20

The guest luncheon speaker will be Dr. Gail Krantzberg, Director, =
International Joint Commission, Great Lakes Regional Office.=20
