E-M:/ Freep editorial on Toronto trash imports

Enviro-Mich message from Mary Beth Doyle <marybeth@ecocenter.org>

This is from Friday's Free Press denouncing Toronto's decision to all
of send its waste to Michigan. They encourage elected officials to
take any available steps to stop or reduce the trash coming in from
Michigan (see below). The editorial also says Toronto stinks, and
it accuses the "seemingly sophisticated city" of being a "poseur."
Ha! Take that, Toronto! (And take note, Lansing!)

"Fortunately, that gives the state and the congressional delegation
time to figure out whether they can stop it, or at least make sure
Toronto is following the same rules Michigan residents do for burying
trash. Although the state has plenty of landfill space, no one --
here or from elsewhere -- should be filling it with stuff that can be
recycled or composted. Michigan owes at least that much to its
generations yet to come."
