E-M:/ "Great Nature Trips" at the Sierra Club meeting on Dec. 18th

Enviro-Mich message from Anne Heise <aheise@wccnet.org>

The Sierra Club/Huron Valley Group meeting on Tuesday, December 18th, will
feature "Great Nature Trips of 2001." This annual slide show will offer a
glimpse of adventures to some of the finest places in the world, both near
and far. Feel free to bring up to 10 slides to show. The meeting begins
at 7:30 p.m. at the Matthei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor, located at
1800 N. Dixboro Road between Plymouth and Geddes.

Prior to this smorgasbord of travels, at 6:30 we'll begin a potluck
dinner.  All are invited, Sierra Club members and non-members alike;
children are welcome. Bring a plate and utensils and any kind of dish
you'd care to share.

The social hour immediately following the slide show offers a chance for
you to meet others who share your interests in exploring, enjoying, and
protecting nature. You can also learn about local Sierra Club activities
including hikes, ski trips, service projects, the book club, and
conservation campaigns.

Judging from the traffic anywhere near a shopping center, it's now the
official last minute to buy Christmas gifts. What to give the people who
have everything (or unfathomable tastes like Uncle Norbert?) Perhaps
eye-catching Sierra Club calendars or appointment books. Or Borders "gift
cards" for those who like books and music. Or EarthCash shopping vouchers
that help stop sprawl (at no cost to you) when you buy groceries and such
at stores where you already shop. Profits from our sales help us fight
local environmental campaigns. Bring your checkbook if this interests

I hope to see you Tuesday night. Please feel free to forward this message
to others who might be interested.
