"Dr. Clayton Rugh joined MSU in 1999 as the nation's first Assistant Professor of Phytoremediation.  He is based in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, though is also a member of the Plant Breeding and Genetics Program, the Genetics Graduate Program, and the Institute for Environmental Toxicology.  Since his arrival Dr. Rugh has received several grants from federal agencies and industrial stakeholders, is collaborating with numerous scientific groups in the U.S. and Europe, and has initiated a variety of research programs for the management and modification of plant systems for environmentally beneficial applications."
