Kristan Small, 4th grade teacher in the Lansing School District and Laurie Thorp, MSU Department of Resource Development will talk about their unique partnership that grew out of a school garden. Together they will entertain the following question: To what extent does the educational system aid and abet human-nature dissociation and concomitant worldview that threatens our very existence?

"Earth Charter: A Global Ethic in the Making"
Terry Link is the Chair of the University Committee for a Sustainable Campus, and Director of the MSU Office of Campus Sustainability, an EPA funded initiative. He has been environmental studies and public policy librarian for most of his 20 years at MSU and is Head of the Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture Library. He founded and was first chair of the American Library Association's Task Force on Environment, an has written and spoken frequently on the intersection of information, public policy, and the environment. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the Bailey Scholars Program in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. With Dr. Laurie Thorp, he is teaching RD 491 this semester that is focusing on the Earth Charter www.earthcharter.org
