Conservation Intern
National Wildlife Federation
(Ann Arbor office, MI)

Description:

Assist with a variety of activities related to implementation of activist
outreach and development programs primarily in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.  In addition, some activist outreach and
development will be done in Kentucky and Iowa as second tier priority
states.  Work will include identifying potential conservation leaders for
further development and training, assisting with regular communication about
activities potential leaders can take to support NWF conservation issues,
coordinating workshops, and database management of activist contacts and
progress.

Assist with outreach activities to expand Great Lakes Women in Conservation
program.  Including assisting with preparation of grant proposals, creating
outreach materials, writing success stories or other copy for NWF and
affiliate publications, initiating and maintaining electronic listserv for
program participants in the region.

Assist Great Lakes Wolf Recovery team with activist outreach and
communications including assistance with content preparation and
coordination of e-Wolf News and assisting with workshop planning or mailings
involving activists and members in the region.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS or BA degree preferably in environmental studies, natural resources,
communications or similar area of concentration. Experience in grassroots
outreach, communications and event/workshop planning.  Excellent
interpersonal communication, writing and follow-through skills.  Experience
working with diverse constituencies from both rural and urban environments.
Willingness to travel throughout Great Lakes region. Writing skills.
Computer proficiency in Windows and dealing with a multi-tasking
environment.  Some experience in database management.
