ST. HELEN MOTORSPORT AREA OPEN HOUSE SET

LANSING--Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials
today announced an open house April 25 to discuss the St.
Helen Motorsport Area.
The DNR is developing its master plan to guide future
development and management within the two-square-mile site,
located on state forest land in Section 25 and 36, T23N, R1W
in Roscommon County. The area was officially designated by
the DNR as an ORV Use Area in 1973.
Improvements included in the final master plan will enhance
continued recreational use for Off-Road Vehicles, address
the increasing public demand for motorized recreational
opportunities and balance these demands with natural
resource protection.
The open house is 4 to 7 p.m. at the Richfield Township
Hall. Public input will be analyzed and incorporated in the
master planning process.
"This is an important opportunity for stakeholders to have a
say in the future development and management of the St.
Helen Motorsport Area," said DNR ORV Program Manager Steve
Kubisiak. "This master plan will help resource managers
address the current and future needs of ORV enthusiasts, as
well as address the environmental, safety, and operational
aspects of the site."
Written comments should be submitted by April 25 to Steve
Kubisiak, ORV Program Manager, Recreation Section, DNR Parks
and Recreation Bureau, P.O. Box 30257, Lansing, MI 48909-
7757, or via email to kubisias@state.mi.us.
