Grants for research on developing models for use in environmental decision

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is accepting applications for
research that will lead to the development of improved models to help
ecosystem managers study regional environmental problems.  Models must focus
on at least one of the following areas: impairments in the current Clean
Water Act 303(d) listing process (suspended and embedded sediments,
nutrients, and pathogens), climate change (flow variability and thermal
regimes), changes in land-use patterns that affect regional habitats, or the
introduction of exotic species.

Who is eligible: American academic and nonprofit institutions, and state or
local governments.

Deadline for applications: July 17.

Total amount to be awarded and number of awards: $4-million for five to
seven awards.

Amount of individual awards: up to $250,000 per year for up to three years.
